Reserve an Alaska Zoo VIP Tour, a 2-hour behind-the-scenes experience which includes a 30-minute polar bear encounter with a zookeeper and a 1.5 hour tour including behind-the-scenes stops including the zoo's commissary. Your guide will be Zoo Education Director Rich Capitan, an experienced environmental educator and local improv performer. Rich always provides a lively tour with fascinating animal insight. Stops may be added or changed as new animals arrive or if animals have health concerns. Each VIP tour participant will receive a $20 credit in the Zoo Gift Shop. The $1,000 fee covers the tour and zoo entry for up to 4 participants, with the option to add up to 2 additional guests for $250 each. The tour is held on Monday mornings for pre-registered groups, private for your group, from 8am-10am. This gives you one hour of private time before the zoo opens at 9am. Participants must be age 9 or older.
Pay at the Gate Options - Animal Feedings and Guided Tours
Daily Animal Feedings: 30-minute session with a trained guide to feed an animal at the Alaska Zoo. Ask questions, appreciate these amazing animals up-close and take pictures. Daily from May 27th-September 1st, 2024 at 10:15am (caribou), 12:15pm (Bactrian camels & muskox) and 2:15pm (black bears). Species are subject to change based on their needs. Price is $30 per person plus zoo admissions fees for ages 3 and up. Ages 2 and under are free. No advance reservations, pay at the zoo entrance on the day you wish to do your feeding experience. Take our free shuttle if you reserve a seat online in advance. The feeding experiences are timed with the shuttle arrivals. The shuttle arrives at the zoo at the top of the hour, giving you time to pay for a feeding experience and zoo entry.
Guided tour: A 2-hour, behind-the-scenes tour of the Alaska Zoo. Price is $70 per person (price includes zoo admission) for ages 3 and up. Ages 2 and under are free. The tour includes 2 behind-the-scenes stops of the guide’s choice, one of which will be at the polar bear habitat. 1:15-3:15pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays only, May 27th-September 1st, 2024. No tours Sundays-Wednesdays. The tours are purchased at the zoo entrance before 1:15pm on the you plan to do the tour. Take our free shuttle if you reserve a seat online in advance - arrives at the zoo at 1:00pm and your guide will end the tour in time for you to catch the 3:10 shuttle. The next shuttle will leave the zoo at 4:10 if you wish to spend an extra hour walking the trails, visiting our Gift Shop or buying refreshments in our Coffee Shop.

GUIDED TOUR
Purchase at the gate before the tour. Enjoy a 2-hour walk through the zoo with a guide who will share animal information and stories with you. The tour includes two behind-the-scenes stops, one of which will be at the polar bear habitat. The tour is timed for those who wish to take the shuttle to and from downtown Anchorage.
