The Alaska Zoo is now accepting applications for Summer 2013 husbandry internships. We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking college students who are looking to gain valuable experience and knowledge in the zoo keeper field.
Interns will be expected to follow direction of full time staff for their personal safety as well as safety/care of all animals throughout the zoo. Interns will be expected to work irregular schedules including weekends and holidays. Shifts start as early as 6 am and end as late as 10 pm and interns will work all four keeper shifts over the course of the summer. This internship is a physically demanding experience and will require intermediate levels of strength and flexibility as well as the ability to work outdoors and in all types of weather conditions.
This internship program is designed to provide participants with practical learning experience and knowledge in the field of animal husbandry, exhibit maintenance, animal enrichment, and public interactions.
All Internships are unpaid and we do not provide housing.
