International Migratory Bird Day & Centennial Event
Spread Your Wings for Bird Conservation
Migrate to the Zoo for this bird celebration on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 11am to 5pm. (Please note that this date is different than the one published in the 2016 Alaska Zoo Calendar. We moved the date to avoid conflicting with the Shorebird Festival in Homer).

Spread your wings for conservation and migrate to the Alaska Zoo to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Migratory Bird Treaty!
The Migratory Bird Treaty forms the cornerstone of our nation’s efforts to conserve birds that migrate across international borders, and this year we invite you to gather your flock and join us for this special Migratory Bird Treaty Centennial event.
Explore hands-on activity stations, games, kid’s craft station, winning Jr. Duck Stamp artwork, live education birds from Bird TLC, and much more! This year the Alaska Zoo will also be hosting a beer and wine garden with partners from the Alaskan Brewing Co. and the Alaska Denali Winery.
Event partners include U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Audubon Alaska, Alaska Migratory Bird Co-Management Council and the Alaska Zoo. This event is fun and educational for visitors of all ages!
Contact Tamara Zeller (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service) at 786-3517 or Stephanie Hartman (Alaska Zoo) at 341-6463 for more event information.
