Camp Descriptions

All camps
will be held from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM on ASD in-service or
holidays.
-
Maximum enrollment
will be 15 campers per day to maintain 1:5 staff ratio.

Winter camps will be
ages 6-12, with appropriate activities for younger/older kids.

Camps include
behind-scenes encounters with animals and staff.
-
Indoor and outdoor
activities planned, depending on weather conditions.
- Camp fees include two snacks, a full
lunch, bottled water, materials.
- All camps are pre-registration only.
Registration is online only.
- After you register, you will receive a
confirmation email which includes camp details.
- NOTE: Drop-off/pick-up
locations may have changed since the last camp season. Details included in the
confirmation email.

Snow Cats: Go behind-the-scenes with
our cats this winter! Learn how snow leopards, Amur tigers, and
lynx thrive in winter conditions in their native habitats.
Program includes close encounters with our cats and keeper
staff. |

Battle of the Poles: Do polar bears
and penguins coexist? Only in cartoons! This program will
highlight the differences in the wildlife species and ecosystems
of both the North and South Polar Regions. Program includes
encounters with our polar animals of the north. |

|
Animal Enrichment 3-Day Session:
Don’t
miss one of our most popular camps! Learn why enrichment
is an important in animal care and help staff make enrichment
for the animals. Program includes assisting with
enrichment for the animals and observing their reactions.
Each day will have a different species focus. Monday =
Canids, Tuesday = Raptors, Wednesday = Weasels. |

Sweating Polar Bears: Learn how polar
bears are being threatened by the loss of their sea ice
habitat. Activities will illustrate how we can do our part to
reduce our carbon footprint and save this species in the wild.
Program will include interactive games and close encounters with
our two polar bears. |

Dog Mushing: Our popular dog mushing
program is back for another winter, so register early to reserve
your spot. Meet a recreational musher and dog team, learn what
it takes to care for sled dogs, and examine a sled and other
equipment. Program includes hands-on encounters with sled dogs. |

Zoo Awareness Week 5-Day Spring Break Session:
Monday = Modern Zoos, Tuesday = Zoo Diets, Wednesday =
Enrichment, Thursday = Animal Training, Friday = Zoo
Ambassadors. Programs provide a clear picture of what zoos
are about through a variety of animal encounters, staff
discussions, demonstrations, and activities. |
